The competition venue moved to the Birmingham area for the first time after many years at Stoke and this had a major effect on our team as a major accident on the M6 around Stafford completely closed the motorway. This meant only 4 of our players arrived for the beginning of the match with 4 more arriving 20 minutes late to be paired with late arrivals from the Lancashire team. Unfortunately, this meant that Alex had to play Lancashire's board 1 & Tim played Lancashire's board 2, Victoria did not have an opponent as her Lancashire counterpart was still stuck on the M6 so she was given a bye. The  final Cheshire car arrived over an hour late after a horrendous trip and were too late to play defaulting on all 4 boards.

Special congratulations to Sam Cloake for 3 great wins, Victoria Crompton and Sam Oxley who had one of the most difficult draws but took a point from the runners up Sussex and only lost to 3rd place Warwickshire. Tim Hurst who arrived late on board 6 also deserves comment as he was unfortunate enough to have to play Lancashire's board 2 followed by Sussex (runners up) and finally Warwickshire (3rd place).
